Klio. Journal of Polish and General History

Publishing procedure

  1. The text is submitted electronically via the Academic Journal Platform (APCZ). Detailed information on how to prepare the text can be found here, and instructions on how to upload the file can be found here.
  2. The submitted publication undergoes a preliminary internal substantive and technical assessment. The editors decide whether the presented text is in line with the journal's profile.
  3. After initial approval, the article is verified by the iThenticate anti-plagiarism program, and then the result is interpreted by the Editorial Board members. The final decision to admit the text for further verification is made by the Editor-in-Chief.
  4. The following types of texts are directed to external review: Articles, Materials, Discussions, Review articles. Texts published in other sections are assessed by the journal's editors in terms of compliance with the "Klio" profile, but are not directed to external reviewers.
  5. The article is then subjected to an external review. In the case of articles, the Editorial Board appoints two reviewers who are specialists in the field of the discussed subject. Works are reviewed anonymously - the authors and reviewers do not know their identities (double-blind rewiev). You can find more about the review procedure here. This process usually takes about a month.
  6. The reviewer recommends the Editors to reject, accept or accept the text after making corrections.
  7. In the event of divergent opinions, the Editorial Board decides to accept or reject the text. In case of doubt, a third reviewer is appointed.
  8. If the reviewer recommended introducing changes, the Editorial Board agrees with the author on their scope and the date of their introduction. If the Author refuses to make changes, the Editorial Board has the option to resign from publishing the text.
  9. The further publishing process includes the following stages:
    • linguistic / technical development;
    • author's proofreading of the text - the author accepts or rejects the editorial corrections;
    • correction of the composition carried out by the Editorial Board;
    • printing of publications (original version);
    • placing the publication on the Academic Journals Platform

In the event of a decision to resign from publishing the text at any stage, the Author is immediately notified of this fact.

The average time from sending the text to publication is 6 months. It is a complex and multi-track process.
